Grand Lucayan, Bahamas Ends Affiliation with Raddison
October 24, 2012 - The resort, which changed its name from 'Our Lucaya' to the Grand Lucayan Resort in 2011, ended its affiliation with Radisson on Oct. 8, 2012 and has embarked on a series of steps to grow and enhance the resort.
Benjamin Davis, General Manager of Grand Lucayan, commented, “We're appreciative of the strong relationship and success we have enjoyed with Radisson, but feel we can best expand on the growth potential of Grand Lucayan as an independent property. Our switch to the name Grand Lucayan last year,” he continued, “was a symbolic step in the process that has culminated in this move, as we further establish the resort as a truly “grand” experience on the island of Grand Bahama.”
The first enhancement announced for Grand Lucayan as a newly independent resort is the reopening of the Lanai Suites. The 23 secluded suites add an enticing option for prospective guests, and raise the total available rooms at Grand Lucayan to 542. Combined with the recent renovation and reopening of Churchill's fine dining restaurant at the resort, Grand Lucayan is well positioned heading in to the winter season.
Grand Lucayan also recently announced food and beverage specials including the “Celebration” series at Churchill's, with special offers through December for groups of six or more, and weekly events including Wednesday Fish Fry at the Prop Club, Bahamian night at Willy Broadleaf's on Fridays, and Sunday Brunch at Willy Broadleaf.
