CHARLESTON, SC - November 7, 2012 - Charlestowne Hotels announced today that a new Holiday Inn Express hotel will open in January 2013 following a multi-million dollar renovation.

The 8-story, 153-room hotel at 146 Lockwood Boulevard, which was previously the BEST WESTERN Plus Charleston Downtown, is currently undergoing a multi-million dollar conversion that includes significant enhancements in all aspects of the property.

Holiday Inn Express Charleston Downtown - Ashley River is conveniently located just outside of the Historic District and adjacent to Charleston's medical complex which includes the Medical University of South Carolina, Roper St. Francis Hospital, and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center.

The new hotel will include features keeping with the $1 billion Holiday Inn relaunch, the largest project of its kind in the history of the hospitality industry. First announced in 2007, the relaunch program creates a more contemporary brand image as part of the drive to increase quality and consistency across the global portfolio.

Guests will experience a comfortable and smart environment with innovative, preferred-guest upgrades to ensure a productive stay while traveling for business or leisure.

All newly renovated guest rooms will offer new furniture, window treatments, flooring, and modern in-room amenities, including 32” flat panel televisions. In addition, rooms will include granite countertops, an urban design scheme with a mix of blues and java-colored furnishings, and walkout balconies.

Guests will enjoy complimentary high-speed wireless Internet throughout the hotel, as well as Express Start breakfast in the lobby each morning. The hotel also features a fitness center, large outdoor pool area, and 24-hour business center.
