New Survey of Emerging Travel Trends
Travel Industry Association and Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell Co-Authors
FEBRUARY 22, 2007. The Travel Industry Association (TIA) and Yesawich, Pepperdine, Brown & Russell (YPB&R) will collaborate on the introduction of a new consumer survey designed to monitor the public's attitudes toward travel and measure the impact of current events on Americans' travel behavior and intentions.
The survey will be known as travelhorizonsTM, and the data will be interpreted through the lens of the prevailing lifestyles and social values of American adults. The results will be developed from a nationally-representative survey of 1,500 active U.S. travelers conducted every other month beginning in February 2007. Survey topics will monitor the impact of: the new Western Hemisphere U.S. citizen passport requirement, fluctuations in the price of gasoline, significant weather events, world events, and other developments likely to influence the travel habits or intentions of U.S. adults.
"This represents an exciting and timely addition to the portfolio of research conducted under the aegis of TIA," remarked Roger Dow, president and chief executive officer of TIA. "And we're delighted to have partnered with one of the travel industry's leading authorities on consumer insight and behavior, YPB&R." The survey results will be made available on a subscription basis beginning April 1, 2007. Further information may be obtained by contacting TIA at 202-408-8422.
TIA is the national, non-profit organization representing all components of the $703 billion travel industry. TIA's mission is to represent the whole of the U.S. travel industry to promote and facilitate increased travel to and within the United States.
