. October 14, 2008

FEBRUARY 28, 2007. Accor's economy brand Ibis continues its rapid expansion in China with the opening 1 March of Ibis Zhongshan near the booming Pearl River Delta area of southern China.

Zhongshan is considered a leading provincial business centre and the hotel is Accor's 6th Ibis hotel to open in China. A further 35 Ibis hotels are under construction or committed for development by 2008. This will bring the total Ibis network in China to between 40-50 hotels in key commercial centres around the country.

One of the economic boomtowns of Guangdong province, Zhongshan has over 1.3 million people, with an additional 1 million migrant workers. Located in the Pearl River delta, roughly halfway between Macau and Guangzhou it can be reached by ferry from Hong Kong. Zhongshan has an active and prosperous industrial base, including some of the world's largest shoe factories.

Zhongshan's growing downtown district features a European-style pedestrian promenade. During weekends, Zhongshan is popular with Hong Kong sightseers, as it is the home town of the first president of the Chinese republic, Sun Zhongshan (also known as Sun Yat-Sen).

The 155 -room Ibis Zhongshan is located in Zhongshan's new business district, near shopping centers, government offices, banks, commercial buildings and shoe manufactures. The hotel is 120 kilometers from the Guangzhou International Airport and close to the railway station. It is also near major transportation links connecting the city with Macau and Guangzhou.

The hotel offers one meeting room, one restaurant and one bar, and other key design elements of the brand's contemporary room concept.

Ibis Zhongshan is offering an opening rate of only 138rmb (US$18*) - room only - from now until 31 December 2007 inclusive of breakfast, representing outstanding value for a new internationally branded hotel in a major commercial centre in China.
