In Memoriam, A Tribute to Jeff Henschel, Director of IT, Benchmark Hospitality
May 17, 2013 - Benchmark Hospitality Jeff Henschel, Director of Information Technology for Benchmark Hospitality International, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 1st, 2013. He will be immensely missed by those who knew and loved him, and worked side by side with him during his years with the company.
Jeff was a devoted husband who married his childhood sweetheart just four years ago. He and his wife,
Rita, were active members of Life Spring Church in Conroe, Texas. Jeff's spiritual life had always been important to him. Originally from Wisconsin and a Midwestern at heart, Jeff loved returning home where he could relax and be with his extended family. He was an avid outdoorsman, and was passionate about golfing, hunting, fishing, jewelry making, and cooking. His love of travel took him to destinations around the world.
To his Benchmark Hospitality family, Jeff was a wonderful friend and colleague. He was instrumental
in significantly advancing the global company's Information Technology systems in support of the Home Office and Benchmark's 39 hotels, resorts and conference centers. Within Benchmark, Jeff was known as the “PCI Guru” and was one of few certified experts in the hospitality industry to earn a certificate in PCI Compliance and Security Systems.
Jeff always had an entrepreneurial spirit, and prior to joining Benchmark led his own IT consulting firm, successfully serving US-based hospitality management companies. Throughout his distinguished career, he held multiple senior-level information technology positions for hotel management companies
based in the Midwest and the southern United States. As one might expect, Jeff was the recipient of several well-deserved performance and service awards. His life was about service, to his wife, his colleagues, his fellow parishioners, and to his God. We at Benchmark will never forget Jeff, or being graced by his presence among us.
