Windsor Announces Courtyard by Marriot, Vacaville

. October 14, 2008

MARCH 7, 2007. Subtly and stealthily over the last year and change, Windsor Hospitality Group has renovated their Courtyard by Marriott Vacaville in phases so as to avoid bothering any guests. Now that the work is finished, Director of Sales Andrea McPeak and the whole property team are spreading the word - You have to see this sparkling hotel.

"Our renovation was top to bottom," says McPeak. "The rooms were completely redone about a year ago. In them, we have all new mattresses. We've actually had guests ask us what kinds we have so they can go out and buy them for their home."

WHG has installed plush carpeting and each room at the Courtyard Vacaville has brand new bedding. "It is a whole new look," McPeak describes. "Marriott's new bedding package is a more elegant, layered look that has a more finished appearance."

As far as the lobby goes, one thing WHG installed that is entirely unique to this property is the glossy onyx black tile. It has a very potent effect. You almost want to dive into the floor and see where you land. "When you walk in from our lush garden to this wet-looking, black stone hallway, the whole look is fresh, green and gorgeous...and the new color scheme in the lobby is warmer with gold, cranberry, rust, cream and forest green...it's kind of a richer, warmer wood, a darker cherry look," McPeak says. "Even our new lighting has a warmer glow."

She adds with a wink, "The property team and I are very excited for the Wake-Up Vacaville event on March 22. This event is the Vacaville Chamber of Commerce's monthly breakfast and this month is the first time we will host it. That means our attendees who register for the breakfast will be among the first people to get the grand tour." McPeak adds that WHG's Courtyard Vacaville is primarily a business hotel, so the property team is glad to announce their lobby enhancements inspired by their business travelers.

"In our lobby we have a built-in business center desk with a computer," McPeak says. "Robert, our general manager, found a comfortable leather chair with an ottoman and a power connection for our business guests' laptop, so they can still be productive, but have the comfortable feeling of working from heir home office. In addition to spreading the word to their business guests, McPeak says, "We would really like leisure travelers to understand we are a stay-over location, not just a pass-through. We have the largest premium factory outlet shopping in Northern California. We also have the newly-opened Nut Tree restaurant."

Aside from the local attractions, WHG's Courtyard Vacaville has a few boastworthy on-property features that set the hotel apart from the local competition. It has one of the largest on-property marketplaces among all Courtyard brand hotels. "That marketplace is our 24-hour shop where guests can buy everything from a cold drink to a microwavable dinner and we have some extras. The Jelly Belly factory is down the road, so we offer those in the store. We sell fruit products from Mariani Fruit Company...In general, we try to promote and partner with local businesses, because it gives our guests the flavor of the area so they can understand what Vacaville is all about."

WHG redid the gem-shaped pool and large octagonal spa in the property's courtyard while adding new outdoor furniture. Just off the pool, the company outfitted the gym with a treadmill, an elliptical, weights and the basic exercise equipment.

"It is very clean, the TV has cable and there is an unlimited supply of fresh cool water for our guests and plenty of gym towels...the natural light from the pool area in the courtyard pours into the windows and the sliding glass door," McPeak says. "The whole fitness facility looks very appealing."

At present, that area of the hotel is reserved for guests, but one little-known secret is the property's Courtyard Caf'e is open to the public. This breakfast- only restaurant offers omelets, strawberry Belgian waffles "with whipped cream piled high," Seattle's Best Coffee and a selection of other fresh items.

"WHG's Courtyard by Marriott Vacaville has really been renovated as a showcase property for hospitality...it's absolutely beautiful, it's warm and riendly. Our associates remember and welcome all returning guests. It's family and business, so it's got it all," says McPeak. "And another thing is location, location, location...We are in the center of everything. We are on the Interstate 80 corridor between San Francisco, Lake Tahoe and the Napa Valley Wine Country, but we are a better value. We are Vacaville." That says it all.
