Whiteface Lodge Approaches 2016 With Industry Awards and New Hires

. December 21, 2015

December 21, 2015 - As the holiday season brings 2015 to a close, the AAA Four Diamond-rated Whiteface Lodge is adding new talent to its team, new accolades to its extensive list, and its own signature bottle of wine to its cellar.

  • Garrett Vermette has joined Whiteface Lodge as assistant general manager, where he is supporting operations, guest relations, sales and marketing, and other essential functions. Vermette comes to Whiteface Lodge with more than nine years of experience at four-diamond, four-star-rated resorts in Florida. Born and raised in Michigan, Vermette looks forward to working with the award-winning property, and once again enjoying four distinct seasons.

  • A graduate of the Court of Master Sommeliers with over 10 years of experience in fine dining, wine consultation and restaurant management, Christopher Locke has been named sommelier at Whiteface Lodge. An internationally recognized writer, editor and poet, Locke recently spent a week in southern France, where he worked closely with expert winemaker Jean-Pierre Valade to produce a bold and spicy red wine that will be bottled as “The Whiteface Lodge Cuvee: Sophie's Grace.” The wine is named after his two daughters, and is a complex blend of several Rhone-specific grapes. It will be sold exclusively by the glass or bottle at Whiteface Lodge. “I'm thrilled to be joining the renowned culinary team to bring more beverage expertise and a one-of-a-kind blend to guests,” said Locke.

  • Whiteface Lodge has topped Conde Nast Traveler's coveted “Top Hotels and Resorts in the World” list, ranking 94 out of 100. As part of the 2015 Reader's Choice Awards, the Lodge also ranked second on the “Top 10 Resorts in New York State & The Mid-Atlantic” list.

  • As one of 31 properties in the Urgo Hotels & Resorts portfolio, Whiteface Lodge has won four Gold awards in the Food & Beverage Experience, Overall Room Cleanliness, Guest Satisfaction, and TripAdvisor Rating categories from the esteemed hotel group during its annual awards gala. The resort also earned Silver in Hotel Staff Excellence and RevPar Full Service. “We're proud to receive so many top honors alongside such outstanding luxury properties,” said Chris Pulito, general manager of Whiteface Lodge. “It's important for our staff to see that their hard work to maximize the guest experience doesn't go unnoticed or unrewarded.”
