Heritage Hotels' Mara Intrepids Camp Praised

Award Welcome News Amid Challenges Facing Kenya Tourism

. October 14, 2008

DENVER, CO, January 6, 2008. This month travel-industry giant Conde Nast Traveler unveiled their ?Gold List?, which highlights the world?s best hotel accommodations. Heritage Hotel?s flagship Mara Intrepids Camp featuring a private location in the famed Masai Mara Game Reserve was one of two ?newcomers? on the Africa list this year. The honor for Kenya?s leading hotel chain was based on the high quality of guides at the camp, the upgraded rooms and game viewing opportunities.

This award comes just as the Kenyan tourism industry is facing a turbulent beginning to 2008. The disputed Kenyan presidential elections in late December have left the country?s citizens upset, which has resulted in some confrontations. Throughout the situation, no tourist has been harmed, and the strife continues to be focused in areas well off the tourist circuit. The atmosphere in Kenya today is calm and returning to normal. All Heritage Hotels properties are fully functional and the staff is ready to welcome travelers to their beloved Kenya.

"The entire Kenyan tourism industry, including Heritage Hotels, have worked very hard over the past five years to assure international travelers that Kenya is a safe destination,? said David Stogdale, Managing Director of Heritage Hotels. ?Tourism has re-established itself as the most important industry in Kenya, contributing enormously to this economy through the provision of livelihoods and employment to hundreds of thousands of Kenyans. While we remain ready to share the magic of Kenya?s safari experience and warmth of the exotic Indian Ocean beaches, the recent strife in Kenya threatens everything."
