USA, New Orleans, Louisiana. May 03, 2021

The Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol District, a joint venture between Rockbridge and HRI Properties, LLC is expected to debut Summer 2021. Managed by HRI Lodging, LLC, the 214-room property will feature guestrooms with sweeping city views, a ground-level bar and lounge, a breakfast room, an expansive rooftop deck and close to 3,000 square feet of flexible indoor and outdoor meeting and event space. Located in central Austin, the property is within walking distance of a number of key sites, including the state capitol, University of Texas Austin, Blanton Museum, Museum of the Weird and many city parks.

The hotel, designed by Austin-based Gensler, will meet the criteria for Austin Energy Green Building 2 Start Status. The AEGB Commercial Rating System drives new sustainable building practices while also addressing environmental issues appropriate for Central Texas, including water conservation, energy efficiency and construction waste reduction.

With interiors by Studio 11 Design out of Dallas, TX, the hotel's design aesthetic captures the colorful vibe of the city, cleverly mixing a fresh color palette, artful lighting and locally sourced materials to create a sophisticated and vibrant gathering place for Austinites and travelers alike. Memorable elements include eccentric furniture and textiles as well as offbeat artwork aligned with the city's "Keep Austin Weird" catch phrase.

Focused on creating an unforgettable experience for all travelers, the hotel adds many unique features to the trusted Hilton Garden Inn brand. Guests and patrons of the lobby bar will enjoy exclusive access to the 17th floor rooftop deck with ample lounge furniture and impressive views of the state capitol and University of Texas. The outdoor space can also be reserved for private events. The lobby bar will feature food truck inspired bites for lunch and dinner, signature cocktails and local craft beverages and a spacious outdoor patio.

"With the Hilton Garden Inn Austin University Capitol District, we have created a hotel that captures the vibrant energy and spirit that makes Austin so unique," said Michael Coolidge, chief investment & development officer for HRI. "We look forward to providing locals and visitors alike a place to relax, eat, drink and connect in the heart of the city but with easy access to the University area."

Sales & Marketing: Playing the Long Game

During an economic downturn, it is tempting to slash marketing budgets to make up for lost revenue. But smart hoteliers play the long game, knowing that companies who stay engaged with their customers will be the first to benefit from a rebound. Therefore, now is the time to renew and revamp sales and marketing strategies in order to be ready for what lies ahead. For example, this is a perfect time to refresh website content, social media and SEO.  The same for hotel blogs where content can be updated to give customers inspirational ideas as they begin to travel and meet again. Multimedia assets should also be revised with new photo/video shoots that provide accurate information about how setups, room configurations, and onsite offerings have changed to accommodate safer meetings and social distancing. The June Hotel Business Review will focus on the sales and marketing strategies that some hotels are adopting in anticipation of a recovery in 2021.
