Pelican Bay at Lucaya Goes Smoke Free
Grand Bahama Island Resort Also Unveils Newly Renovated Lobby and Adds
GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND, The Bahamas, September 22, 2006, As a result of increasing demand from guests, Pelican Bay at Lucaya is now a smoke-free resort and has converted all of its smoking rooms into non-smoking accommodations. The decision to go smoke free comes as Pelican Bay stays true to its promise to be an island oasis for guests.
"The feedback from our guests regarding this decision has been overwhelmingly positive," explained Magnus Alnebeck, Pelican Bay general manager. "The number of non-smoking hotels continues to increase as the marketplace demands it."
In addition to the new smoke free policy, Pelican Bay has also completed several other projects designed to improve the guest experience. This includes a newly renovated and remodeled lobby area that features an element and style that serves to complement the suites and the upscale feel of the property. The check-in area has been expanded to accommodate more people allowing for quicker and more efficient service.
In addition, the property now features wireless Internet capabilities. The Wi-Fi capability is available in all suites, guest rooms, and public areas around the property, including the pools. "This move allows our corporate guests to remain connected while traveling from the comfort of their room or while lounging poolside," Alnebeck said.
The changes and upgrades to resort are part of a long term vision for the
property laid out by Pelican Bay's owner, Sundt AS, a private investment
company based in Norway, which acquired the resort last year. "Our vision for Pelican Bay will grow the resort's reputation as an independent up-market boutique hotel," explains Alnebeck.
Pelican Bay features 93 one-bedroom suites and an 87-room inn. Both the suites and the hotel hold the prestigious "Small Treasure" designation awarded by The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. For more information about Pelican Bay at Lucaya visit www.pelicanbayhotel.com.
