MCR Acquires the Doubletree Suites Minneapolis

USA, New York City, New York. January 25, 2022

Target acquired! MCR — the country's 4th-largest hotel owner-operator — has purchased the 229-room DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Minneapolis Downtown, a 12-story hotel conveniently positioned across the street from Target Corporation's global headquarters. This is the third hotel MCR has acquired in the Minneapolis metropolitan area over the past 12 months, coming on the heels of The Chambers Hotel and the Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis University Area.

The city of Minneapolis claims headquarters to 17 Fortune 500 Companies - the 3rd highest concentration on a per capita basis of any metropolitan area in the U.S. — including U.S. Bank and Ameriprise Financial. Target's downtown presence alone accounts for more than 9,000 employees, who will all be seated adjacent to the DoubleTree Suites after returning to the office. What's more, the hotel is within walking distance from the Minneapolis Convention Center, visited by nearly a million people each year.

Looking to experience Minneapolis's many attractions? The DoubleTree Suites sits on Nicollet Mall, the city's primary retail and restaurant corridor. When shopping is done, you're just minutes from the Target Center (home to the NBA's Timberwolves) and Target Field (the top-ranked baseball stadium of MLB's Twins). If football is more your speed, Minnesota Vikings fans proudly cheer in one of the NFL's premier arenas, the newly built U.S. Bank Stadium, right in downtown Minneapolis. Round out the day with a show at the historic Orpheum Theatre, also a quick walk from the DoubleTree Suites.

Whether traveling for business or leisure, you will enjoy the comfort of the DoubleTree Suites' expansive suite-style rooms. Fuel up for the day with breakfast at our grab-and-go bistro (serving Starbucks beverages) or sit down to enjoy Café 57, the lobby's restaurant and bar. Break a sweat at the onsite fitness center, buckle down to work at the 24-hour business center or utilize meeting space for a group.

Sales & Marketing: Promoting Peace of Mind

As the hotel industry transitions to a more familiar position, it is still necessary for hotels to emphasize in their marketing the health protocols they have implemented to ensure guest safety and wellness. Above all, guests need to be reassured that every precaution is being taken to safeguard their well-being. Additionally, there are other marketing strategies that hotels can implement as a way to boost their business. For example, neighborhood marketing is a tactic that relies heavily on appealing to local audiences. Incentives targeting locals can fulfill the craving that some people have for time away from home, but aren't ready to hop on a plane. Another viable strategy is to promote experiences in nature. After being stuck inside for so long, many people are looking for hotels to help them re-connect with the great outdoors. The June Hotel Business Review will focus on the marketing strategies that some hotels are adopting and how they are benefiting from them.
