The Living Company (TLC), a hospitality and housing furnishings supplier, has attracted two top hotel industry veterans, Dave Johnson and Dan Hansen, to serve on its board of directors as it expands its services within the hospitality sector.

Beyond hospitality, The Living Company is an industry leader in the workforce housing and co-living sectors, providing best-in-class furniture manufacturing, white-glove installation, and ongoing support to the multifamily and student housing verticals.

Dave Johnson, founder of real estate investment company Horizon Capital Partners LLC, and founder and former Executive Chairman of Aimbridge Hospitality, the globe's most prominent third-party hotel management firm, joins as a Board Member and has invested personal capital in helping grow The Living Company's footprint in hospitality case goods.

"I was a client of The Living Company for years through Aimbridge and have always been impressed with the level of service and, even more so, the very personal commitment to their customer's success that they bring to the table on every project," said Johnson. "I am honored to accept a board position and make a personal investment as they continue to export their expertise to the lodging sector."

Dan Hansen, former CEO and Executive Chairman of Summit Hotel Properties, also joins as a Board Member. Like Johnson, Hansen also worked with The Living Company extensively during his time at Summit.

"The Living Company offers one of the most robust and diversified supply chains around, which we all know is highly critical, with best-in-class logistics and exemplary service every step of the way," said Hansen. "I am honored to serve on the board as The Living Company continues its expansion into hospitality."

Hotel Spa: Now More Than Ever

In the aftermath of the global health crisis, there is a newfound appreciation for the need to be fit - both in body and mind - and hotels that provide a spa or wellness clinic will reap the rewards. What are clients seeking? Better health, fitness, nutrition, appearance, sleep and mindfulness. It is no longer sufficient for spas to only offer massages or facials; clients are demanding more for the benefit of their overall well-being. For example, a medical spa might offer services such as botox, dermal fillers, body sculpting, and microdermabrasion. Other spas are emphasizing the importance of preventative therapeutics and are using technologies such as body scanners to evaluate their clients' health. Some spas are enlisting osteopaths, naturopaths, fitness coaches, yoga masters, even psychologists, to promote vitality, stress management, and emotional balance. The July issue of the Hotel Business Review will report on these and other advancements, and document how some hotel spas are integrating them into their operations.
