Stepstone Hospitality Welcomes Nicholas Wymore as General Manager of Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel
StepStone Hospitality, a premier hospitality management company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicholas Wymore as General Manager of the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel, a historic downtown landmark and lifestyle destination.
With more than 20 years of hospitality experience, Wymore has built a strong foundation in lifestyle, luxury, and convention hotel operations. His career began in Iowa's independent restaurant scene, where he developed a passion for service - one that later evolved into a love for hotels during his early role at The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza in St. Louis.
Wymore has since held leadership roles at distinguished properties including the Autograph Collection Luminary Hotel (Fort Myers, FL), Kimpton Harper Hotel (Fort Worth, TX), and DoubleTree by Hilton Cedar Rapids Convention Complex. He also spent nearly seven years as Director of Food & Beverage at The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, where he also served as an adjunct faculty instructor for The Kirkwood Center for Hospitality Arts — reinforcing his passion for education and leadership development.
Most recently, he served as General Manager of the Autograph Collection Ambassador Hotel in Wichita, Kansas, and now returns to his home state to lead the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel into its next chapter. His return to Iowa marks a homecoming as he steps into this new leadership role at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel.
"Nicholas brings tremendous operational expertise, market insight, and a true passion for hospitality and service to the Renaissance Des Moines," said Michael Broadhurst, Chief Operating Officer at StepStone Hospitality. "His deep connection to the region and commitment to delivering both performance and guest satisfaction make him a natural fit for this property and our team."
As General Manager, Wymore will oversee all hotel operations, with a focus on service excellence, team culture, and community engagement, particularly as the hotel prepares to debut a new restaurant concept and solidify its position as a top lifestyle destination in Des Moines.
"I'm thrilled to join StepStone Hospitality and lead the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel," said Nicholas Wymore. "This hotel has such a rich history and strong ties to the community, and I'm excited to build on that foundation with a team focused on hospitality, innovation, and local connection."
The Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel is part of the Marriott Bonvoy portfolio and blends historic charm with modern amenities, featuring newly renovated guest rooms, more than 12,000 square feet of flexible event space, and an exciting new dining concept launching in 2025.
