Hilton Expands in East Africa

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, August 25, 2006. Hilton and Aya Investments Uganda Limited signed a management agreement for their project to build an upscale hotel in the city of Kampala.

Kampala, the capital city of Uganda is located on the shores of Lake Victoria and is set amongst hills. The city has modern architecture and tree-lined avenues alongside heritage buildings such as cathedrals, mosques, palaces and museums. This extremely modern looking hotel, the "Hilton Kampala" will be built on a 15 acres plot on Nakasero Hill and is expected to be completed by end of 2007.

This newly built property will consist of 272 rooms, 3 restaurants, 2 bars, a 500sqm Ballroom and 14 meeting rooms with recreation facilities including indoor and outdoor pools, spa, fitness area, tennis, squash and landscaped gardens.

Aya Investments has extensive interests in property, value added manufacturing including the operation of three modern wheat mills, regional transportation with its own fleet of trucks and the import and export of general commodities. The Chairman of Aya Investments Mohammed Hamid was present at the signing of the agreement along with Mohammed El Hamid of Pan Afric Impex (Uganda) Limited, Wolfgang Neumann, President Europe & Africa, Deepak Seth, Vice President Development Southern Europe and Patrick Fitzgibbon, Senior Vice President Development Europe & Africa, UK and Nordic, for Hilton International.
