The Fairmont New Orleans Safely Eevacuated

. October 14, 2008

NEW ORLEANS. LA, September 6, 2005. On Thursday, September 1, The Fairmont New Orleans safely evacuated nearly 900 guests, employees and their family members.

Guests have been assisted with travel arrangements. Fairmont will continue to work with employees evacuated to Dallas to secure long-term temporary housing, as well as providing emotional and logistic support to all evacuated staff. Fairmont's colleague help line is 1-888-799-3255, and all Fairmont New Orleans employees are encouraged to contact this number.

More than half of Fairmont's 44 hotels have hurricane fundraising efforts underway, which will be combined with a corporate donation. Funding distribution details will be finalized once the rebuilding needs and priorities of both employees and the city are determined.

"Our thoughts remain with the city of New Orleans and all those affected by this tragedy along the Gulf coast," said Chris Cahill, President and COO, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. "Fairmont has worked diligently to support over 600 employees directly affected by Hurricane Katrina, assist guests and contact family members with information about their loved ones. This effort will continue."

Given the citywide evacuation order, the Fairmont New Orleans remains closed and customers are being assisted with alternative arrangements. Once it is appropriate to do so, damage to the hotel, as well as re-opening plans, will be fully assessed.
