Pacifica to Donate $40,000

. October 14, 2008

CALIFORNIA, September 9, 2005. Pacifica Hotel Company, which owns and manages California hotels from San Diego to the San Francisco Bay Area, announced that it will donate $1 for every occupied room in September, or about $40,000, to the American Red Cross to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina.

"The suffering of those in and around New Orleans deeply affected all of us at Pacifica," said PHC President Dale J. Marquis, who conceived the company's dollar-a-room-a-day campaign after last year's tragic tsunami in Southeast Asia. Pacifica donated $30,000 in February to the Children's Hunger Fund to aid tsunami victims.

"Pacifica Hotel Company has a strong tradition of community support and I call on other hotel management companies to join us in dedicating a portion of our revenues to help those whose lives were torn apart by this terrible storm," Marquis said. "Natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina and last year's tsunami serve to remind us that we are all joined together no matter where we may live."
