Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin's Todd English's Bluezoo Wins Buildings Interiors Design Award
Lake Buena Vista, FL -- Todd English's bluezoo, the beautiful, undersea-inspired restaurant, located in the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotel, has been named the winner in Hospitality Interiors for the 2005 Buildings Interiors Design Awards, by Buildings Magazine.
The awards are selected by a panel of judges comprised of the magazine's editorial staff along with industry professionals, such as facility managers, interior designers, and architects. The award recognizes outstanding building interiors in the hospitality field.
The restaurant's undersea theme is well-paired with striking blue hues that are found throughout the restaurant. Bubble-like light fixtures hang above carpets that are patterned with water droplets. Schools of aluminum fish swim above the beautifully lit blue bar, and columns glitter with blue mosaic tiles. The restaurant was inspired by English's son, who after viewing an IMAX film about underwater sea life, remarked that the ocean and its creatures were "like a blue zoo". The restaurant was designed by noted designer Jeffrey Beers who is renowned for his unique and innovative architectural designs.
