Onity Appoints Steve Lyons as Global ACE Manager

ATLANTA, GA, April 28, 2008. Onity has announced the appointment of Steve Lyons to the newly created position of global ACE manager for the company's worldwide operations. ACE (Achieving Competitive Excellence) is a proprietary operating system, established by United Technologies Corporation in order to ensure world-class quality in their products and processes. In his new role, Steve will lead this company-wide strategy for Onity's North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Latin America, and Asia Pacific regions. Onity, one of the world's leading providers of electronic locking solutions, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

A corporate quality consultant for UTC in the 1990's, Mr. Yuzuru Ito established the foundation for ACE criteria through his "Quality First" principles. These criteria divide Onity's daily management process into three elements: Business Metrics; Tools & Competency; and Culture & Philosophy. The purpose of ACE is to enable every business, field, and manufacturing function within UTC Fire & Security to streamline processes, eliminate waste and surpass company objectives.

As global ACE manager for Onity, Steve will be in charge of increasing consistency in operational performance standards worldwide, thereby unifying common practices and aligning Onity's business objectives throughout all of its business units. Since joining the company in 1993, Steve has held a variety of operations and engineering roles. Before being appointed to lead the ACE program, Steve served as Hospitality Technology product manager in Onity's Engineering group.
