Renovation at Rancho Las Palmas is no Mirage
MAY 7, 2008. In March 2008, KSL Resorts completed a $35 million makeover of Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA. The 444-room resort is the very definition of southern California classic, re-imagined for the 21st century traveler. The makeover has been a hit with guests, as demonstrated by a 90% occupancy rate at Rancho Las Palmas in March. Highlights include:
o Splashtopia, a two-acre sun-drenched pool complex featuring two 100-foot waterslides, a cliffside Jacuzzi, expansive swimming pool, and sandy beach and water play area for toddlers. Ringed by a 425-foot "Lazy River," with inner-tubes that meander the length of the complex, Splashtopia has been a draw for affluent family travelers - even as Rancho Las Palmas' adults-only tranquility pool ensures continued appeal for couples escaping for a romantic getaway.
o New dining venues completed during the course of renovations include bluEmber, Rancho Las Palmas' signature restaurant, and the R Bar. bluEmber, created by the renowned design team at Puccini Group, is led by Chef Todd Clayton and features menus that take full advantage of the rich local California harvest, in a setting warmed by outdoor fire pits and a dramatic fire-topped fountain. The R bar's sleek leather seating, rich woods, and welcoming bar evoke the quintessentially California Rat Pack era.
o The lobby, guestrooms, spa and new retail venues all received stylish makeovers. Rancho Las Palmas features a 20,000-square-foot spa and Yamaguchi Salon, a 27-hole Ted Robinson-designed golf course, a 25-court Peter Burwash International tennis center, four pools, and 41,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space.
