Chartres Lodging Receives 'Doubletree Developer of the Year' Award
Redevelopment of the Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile
CHICAGO, IL, October 17, 2008. The Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile is proud to announce that they have received the Doubletree Developer of the Year award from Hilton Hotels Corporation. The award was presented on October 14 to Daniel J. Sheline, senior vice president for The Chartres Lodging Group, at Hilton Hotels Corporation's Full-Service Brands Owners Summit on behalf of Chartres and its partners on the hotel project.
Located at 300 East Ohio Street in the heart of downtown Chicago, more than $21 million dollars has been invested in this redevelopment project to reinvigorate this 500-room full-service hotel. The hotel now offers an array of impressive upgrades that have been envisioned through a vivid urban design theme now prevalent throughout the hotel experience. The transformation at the Doubletree will be complete with a new and exciting restaurant concept which will debut in early 2009.
The Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile was purchased as the Holiday Inn City Centre in January 2007 by an investment group led by Chartres and immediately taken independent. The investment group's intent was to dramatically transform the entire property and to re-brand it as a Doubletree Hotel which was achieved in June 2008. The Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile is managed by Kokua Hospitality, LLC.
"Our 'little' project was truly a team effort, spanning from the design team of Cole Martinez Curtis & Associates to our project manager, The John Hardy Group, development management team within Chartres Lodging, and our investment and financial partners," said Sheline. "We are privileged to be counted among the Best for Hotel Development and extend our gratitude to our partners within the Hilton and Doubletree family," he added.
The Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile is a short walk to premier shopping and dining on Michigan Avenue, Navy Pier, the Children's Museum, Millennium Park, Lake Michigan, and a short taxi-ride to all of the sights and sounds of the Windy City.
Guestrooms at the Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile have been enhanced with a vibrant and welcoming charcoal, white and fuchsia color scheme. Residential-style amenities include the brand's signature Sweet Dreams(R) by Doubletree sleep experience; MP3 compatible, stereo clock radios; Wolfgang Puck(R) gourmet in-room coffee service; Neutrogena(R) bath and body products; and a spacious work desk complete with wireless, high-speed internet access and ergonomic desk chairs. The hotel also offers 16,000 square feet of newly redesigned meeting space filled with key technology and comforts, including state-of-the-art audio/visual equipment, a fine array of catering options and a dedicated convention services team. Each of the 13 meeting rooms will provide both wireless and wired high-speed internet access.
"Chartres Lodging Group offered an incredible dedication to excellence in this project and this recognition and award is made better knowing that our guests are also big winners," said Birgit Radin, managing director for the upscale hotel.
