Dinah's Garden in Palo Alto Completes Renovation
California Hotel Emphasizes Dramatic Antique Works of Art
PALO ALTO, CA, November 7, 2008. Dramatic antique works of art, new landscaping and a new business center are among the enhancements at Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto. Coinciding with the recent renovation, the 148-room property also introduced a complimentary manager's hospitality hour with California wines served on Monday-Friday from 5-7 p.m. in the hotel's art-filled lobby.
The porte cochere entrance to the hotel has been redesigned and now features some unusual art objects. A majestic pair of life-sized 19th-century processional elephants from India that are hand-carved and covered in brass tin relief and an antique Japanese fountain now grace the entrance. "Right away our guests sense that they're about to enter a property with some exotic flair," says Dinah's Garden Hotel & Trader Vic's General Manager Adam Hamdy. "And that's just the beginning. Throughout the hotel, guests will see an amazing collection of art from around the Pacific Rim and beyond."
The lush entry gardens have been redesigned, so that flowering plants and trees are blooming nearly every time of the year in the temperate climate. Surrounded by palm trees and flowering plants, a new gazebo just off the lobby is an ideal spot to relax.
Once inside the lobby, guests will appreciate enhancements to the lobby. A newly installed business center offers computers, printers, fax machine and a Board EZ station for guests to print their boarding passes. There are several quiet seating areas in the lobby where guests can relax or catch up on some work. Free WiFi access is offered throughout the hotel's common areas.
To accommodate its business and high-tech clientele, the hotel has introduced a continental on-the-go breakfast served every weekday from 5-7 a.m. with assorted pastries and fresh-roasted coffee. "We noticed that our guests are hard-charging early risers and wanted to make it easier for them to start the day," said Hamdy.
A new complimentary manager's hospitality hour is now offered in the evenings. "We wanted our guests to have a taste of some of the fine wines from California," added Hamdy. "Our guests enjoy visiting with our staff and other guests while they sip a glass of Cabernet, Merlot or Chardonnay."
Guestroom upgrades include new all-white high thread-count bed linens, duvets, colorful throws and hypoallergenic down-like pillows. And in keeping with the hotel's garden theme, the hotel has introduced fragrant Garden Elements bath amenities.
Overnight accommodations at Dinah's Garden Hotel are sure to delight guests. Designer furnishings and unique artwork give each room or suite a different look. Theme suites include the Southwest, Asian Sunset, Mexican and Provencal suites with individualized d'ecor and furnishings. Many rooms open to a private balcony, lounge area or landscaped patio that provides a tranquil garden retreat.
Dinah's guestrooms are surrounded by six acres of gardens featuring koi-filled lagoons, waterfalls and original art objects from the Pacific Rim. Perhaps the most memorable sculpture is an antique Buddha statue that is placed near a Japanese-style footbridge.
Dinah's Garden Hotel has two onsite restaurants: the casual Poolside Grill, which offers breakfast and lunch with indoor and alfresco seating, and the legendary tropical-inspired Trader Vic's restaurant, home of the original Mai Tai. The hotel's adjacent banquet and conference facility can accommodate up to 250 guests in a variety of settings.
The hotel is just minutes from Stanford University, Stanford Shopping Center, downtown Palo Alto and major Silicon Valley companies.
