Wingate by Wyndham Shares Travelers' Best Tips
Announces Winners of Its Online Travel Tips Contest
DECEMBER 15, 2008. The contest encouraged 'road warriors,' to submit their best travel tips at www.wingatehotels.com for the chance to win one of three all-inclusive weekend trips to New York and a grand prize: being featured in a Wingate by Wyndham commercial on XM Satellite Radio.
The grand-prize tip was submitted by Andrew Gold of Tampa Bay, Fla., who recommended investing in a multiuse power supply that allows travelers to charge all of their devices from one source, eliminating the need to carry around separate power supplies for each device.
The first-place tip was submitted by Dan Sutton of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who advised travelers to always check tire pressures before heading off on a long road trip. In addition to keeping vehicle safe, correct tire pressure ensures maximum gas mileage while increasing tire life.
Bryan Parker of Washington, D.C. submitted another winning tip, encouraging travelers to use credit cards that offer free hotel stays and rewards to add to the value of their travel investment.
Three second-place winners received XM Pioneer Inno(R) portable satellite radios with one-year XM Satellite Radio subscription. Three third-place winners received TomTom(R) global positioning systems. Twelve $50 gas cards also were awarded.
Travel tips were judged by the Wingate by Wyndham marketing staff, who considered each tip's cleverness and appropriateness for travel.
'With their millions of miles and decades of experience, we consider our guests to be experts in the area of travel,' said Bill Hall, Wingate by Wyndham brand senior vice president. 'Who better to offer advice on travel than those who are constantly on the road?'
All of the submitted tips may be viewed by going to www.wingatehotels.com and clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.
