Ryan Gullion Appointed GM of Houston's Hotel Sorella

Debuting July 2009, Property to Launch New Brand and Anchor Citycentre Mixed-use Development

HOUSTON, TX, December 23, 2008 - Valencia Group's Ryan Gullion has joined the pre-opening team of Houston's Hotel Sorella as general manager. Most recently, he was the GM of the venerable Lancaster, a Houston institution managed by the Valencia Group.

Scheduled to premiere in July 2009, Hotel Sorella is poised to serve as a contemporary counterpoint to the downtown landmark and will also launch the Sorella brand. The 244-room, luxury property with globally influenced design cues will act as a key anchor for CityCentre, an innovative new mixed-use development on Houston's west side, located amidst the affluent and picturesque Memorial residential area. Guests will enjoy pedestrian-friendly access to a range of premium shopping, dining and entertainment offerings, as well as close proximity to the Westchase and Energy Corridor business districts.

Prior to his position at The Lancaster, Gullion was the general manager of the Valencia Group's San Jose, CA property, Hotel Valencia, Santana Row. He joined the Valencia Group in 2002, serving as the assistant general manager of the Hotel Valencia, Santana Row while providing pre-opening support for the award-winning Hotel Valencia, San Antonio.

Gullion began his hospitality career with Omni Hotels at the Omni Jacksonville Hotel in Jacksonville, FL as a Rooms Division management trainee. He was later promoted to assistant director of housekeeping at the AAA Five Diamond Omni Houston Hotel in Houston, TX and director of housekeeping at the AAA Four Diamond Omni Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, NC.

Gullion holds and BS in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. While earning his degree, he interned at Bally's Las Vegas Hotel & Casino.
