Edwin Frizzell Appointed GM of Toronto Hilton

TORONTO, Canada, December 29, 2009 - It was announced recently that Edwin Frizzell, a native of Canada, has been appointed General Manager of the 600-room 4-Diamond-rated Hilton Toronto effective January 19, 2009. Mr. Frizzell, born and raised on Prince Edward Island, has over 15 years of hospitality experience serving in a managerial, sales/marketing and operational capacity for many prestigious hotels both in the U.S. and Canada.

"Edwin's knowledge and expertise of the Canadian market is exceptional - not only at the national level, but also on the local (Toronto) level. His relationships with the Canadian travel and tourism department are extremely solid having worked in concert with them on many occasions while he was based in Toronto," Ratcliff added.

In his role as General Manager of the Hilton Toronto, Mr. Frizzell will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the hotel, which invested in a multi-million dollar renovation program this year that included the refurbishment of the lobby area, various guestrooms and suites, fitness center as well as the Convention Level meeting encompassing a 9,300 square foot ballroom space.

Prior to joining Hilton, Mr. Frizzell, was General Manager of the 369-room W Chicago City Center. From 1993 to 2007, Mr. Frizzell served in various roles in sales/marketing, room operations, guest services and front office management at various Toronto properties, including the Sheraton Center Toronto Hotel, The Sutton Place Hotel, The International Plaza Hotel and The Delta Chelsea.

He began his career in the hospitality industry as Canadian Ambassador to the Walt Disney Resort in Orlando, Florida. Mr. Frizzell holds a Bachelor of Tourism & Hospitality Management degree from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and is an avid chef and landscape design enthusiast.
