Hualalai Resort Names New Spa Director
Karen Cosgrove
KA`UPULEHU-KONA, HI, January 10, 2009 - William Anderson, chief operating officer and executive vice president, Hualalai Resort announces the appointment of Karen Cosgrove, director for the Hualalai Spa and Hualalai Sports Club. Ms. Cosgrove brings more than a decade of resort spa experience to Hualalai and will oversee the wellness, fitness, and spa experiences at Hualalai Spa and Hualalai Sports Club.
An island girl at heart, Ms. Cosgrove was born and raised in Papua New Guinea. Her wellness career began at Canada's oldest tennis club, The Ottawa Tennis Club. Her experience in spa management includes spas at Sheraton Cairo, Egypt, The Ritz-Carlton, Qatar, Persian Gulf, and The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm el Shiekh (Egypt). She then ventured to the British Virgin Islands, where she was a pre-opening team member at Rosewood's famed Little Dix Bay. After several years, she moved to The Palms, Turks and Caicos. Moving "inland," she spent time at Miraval Resort Tucson (Arizona), followed by a brief stint at the Ojai Valley Inn & Spa.
Karen oversaw the re-launch of Hualalai's spa in mid-December, with new and spacious arrival area, locker facilities, enhanced relaxation areas (separate for men and women), a treatment apothecary, and the addition of 2 new indoor treatment rooms. New enclosed outdoor treatment hale, couples hale with private plunge pool, co-ed relaxation areas, and Waiea Garden are on schedule to be completed in Spring 2009.
"I look forward to re-inventing an already great spa with limitless potential to bring it to a whole new level," said Karen, "and I love being back on an island!"
