Simon Barnett Named DOSM Jumeirah Essex House
NEW YORK, NY, January 13, 2009 - Simon Barnett has been appointed Director of Sales and Marketing of Jumeirah Group's Jumeirah Essex House located in the heart of Manhattan on Central Park South and the first hotel in North America In his new position, Barnett will oversee the hotel's marketing, public relations, advertising and sales for all major market segments.

Australian-born Barnett brings more than fifteen years of hospitality experience to his post at the famed Jumeirah Essex House. Prior to his new position, Barnett served as the Director of Sales and Marketing for the Jumeirah Carlton Tower and its sister property, the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel both based in London. He was responsible for the repositioning of both hotels by adjusting the geographic mix and market segmentation at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower and by managing the refurbishment and re-opening of the Jumeirah Lowndes Hotel.
Earlier in his career he held various positions at Hilton Hotels International including Director of Sales and Marketing at the boutique style Trafalgar Hilton located in London's Trafalgar Square, the fashionable London Hilton on Park Lane and the Langham Hilton now known at The Langham, London. Barnett also served as an Account Director, Business Travel and Entertainment for more than two years where he oversaw all business travel throughout the 22 Hilton Hotels within the UK. Other positions held include Director of Exhibitions at the Millennium and Copthorne Hotels Limited and Group Sales Manager, Conference and Incentives for Daikyo Hotels, Resorts and Cruises.
A graduate from the University of Queensland in Australia, Barnett earned his Bachelor of Business in Hospitality Management. He recently moved to Manhattan where he resides with his wife.
