Daniel Preston Named DoSM for InterContinental Chicago
FEBRUARY 05, 2009 - Daniel Preston was appointed Director of Sales and Marketing at the InterContinental Chicago in January 2009, after serving as the Director of Sales at the award-winning property for nearly four years. Collectively, Preston has served at the Chicago location for more than seven years starting out as a Group Sales Manager in January 2002.
"It is a thrill to be part of such a talented and enthusiastic team at one of the city's most historic and storied properties," says Preston. "With the travel industry constantly evolving, the property has been able to stay ahead of the trends and remain relevant in a continuously competitive environment," adds Preston.
As Director of Sales and Marketing, Preston is responsible for maintaining the overall day-to-day operations for the sales and marketing departments, as well as providing staff training and ensuring that the property's goals are met. He also ensures that the InterContinental Chicago has a strategic presence on the appropriate media platforms and distribution channels, and works closely with the reservations and revenue teams to achieve optimized pricing in the marketplace.
Previously, Preston served as a Sales Manager at the W Chicago City Center Hotel, where he served as part of the pre-opening team. He also spent time as the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager at The Ritz-Carlton Hotel (A Four Seasons Hotel) in Chicago, as well as gaining industry experience while working various roles at The Four Seasons Hotel in Washington D.C.
Preston is a graduate of the University of Maryland and currently resides with his wife Katey in the Edgebrook neighborhood of Chicago.
