Crowne Plaza Gurgaon Wins Best Hotel of Year Award
5th Hotel Investment Conference For South Asia
ARIL 2, 2009 - IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), the world's largest hotel group by number of rooms, today announced that one of its managed hotels in India, Crowne Plaza Today Gurgaon, has won the Best Luxury/Upscale Hotel of the Year Award at the 5th Hotel Investment Conference for South Asia (HICSA).
The winners were decided by voting by all registered HICSA delegates at the first ever HICSA Hotels of the Year Awards 2009. The awards have been instituted to acknowledge outstanding new hotel developments in the last one year in the South Asian region. The awards were conferred for two main categories: Best Luxury/Upscale Hotel and Best Mid-Scale/Budget Hotel.
Receiving the award at HICSA 2009, Tony South, Chief Development Officer, IHG Asia Pacific, said, "It is an honour to receive this prestigious award. Hotels opened between mid 2007 and late 2008 in the South Asia region were eligible to participate. There were four finalists in the upscale/luxury segment and five finalists in the budget/mid market segment. An independent panel of six judges analysed all the nominees. Among criteria considered were guestroom layout and interior d'ecor, general location of the property, variety of dining options, social responsibility, aesthetic appeal of the hotel, eco sensitive approach, public area facilities & in-room amenities, recognitions received, financial performance and others.
