Pieter Knot Named GM Marriott Frenchman's Cove

ORLANDO, FL, May 26, 2009 - Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI) - the vacation ownership division of Marriott International, Inc. (NYSE:MAR) - has appointed Pieter Knot to general manager at Marriott's Frenchman's Cove on St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.

Knot is now responsible for the Marriott Vacation Club resort located on 13 waterfront acres overlooking scenic Pacquereau Bay in St. Thomas. Marriott's Frenchman's Cove currently boasts 124 two- and three-bedroom villas ranging from 1,172 to 1,572 square feet and will offer a proposed total of 220 villas upon build-out. Each villa features stunning water views and amenities including a fully-equipped kitchen with granite counters and stainless steel appliances, spacious living and dining areas, a washer and dryer, multiple flat-panel televisions and DVD players, and two balconies.

With nearly 20 years experience in the hospitality industry, Knot began his career with Marriott in 2000 in Aruba where he served as the director of services for both the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino and Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club. From there, Knot quickly progressed to front office manager at the Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino. Three years later he was appointed to director of services for Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club and Marriott's Aruba Surf Club and soon advanced to director of room operations for both properties.

In his most recent role, Knot held the position of general manager at Marriott's St. Kitts Beach Club in the British West Indies where he successfully opened three phases at the resort, as well as earned the recognition as a "World Class Leader for the Florida-Caribbean Region" by Marriott Vacation Club International.

A native of Aruba, Knot is relocating to St. Thomas with his wife, Dorothea and two children, Cassandra and Daniel. Knot holds his bachelor's degree in hotel and restaurant management from the University of Houston in Houston, Texas and looks forward to becoming an active member of the St. Thomas community.
