Christian P. Sargent Named President Limited-Service Division and Miguel Coder, President - Full-ser
ALPHARETTA, GA, October 26, 2005. Dellisart Lodging, a hotel ownership, management, development and acquisition group, today announced that it has reconfigured its executive team to support its strategic growth program. In a series of moves, Douglas E. Artusio has been named chairman and chief executive officer; Christian P. Sargent, president of the limited-service division; and Miguel Coder, president of the full-service division.
"As Dellisart continues to aggressively expand its portfolio both nationally and internationally, we already have found a need to re-organize our internal structure in a way that better enables us to respond to worldwide business opportunities," Artusio said. "The recently announced China joint venture, upcoming announcements about other international ventures and our expanding American hotel portfolio have created the need for specific divisions for both full-service and limited-service properties."
Douglas E. Artusio
With more than 30 years of hospitality experience, Artusio has held virtually every position on the operating side of the hotel business. In his expanded role, he will oversee the company's U.S. and international growth strategies. Starting as a desk clerk at Marriott's Essex House in New York, Artusio moved up through the ranks into positions of increasing scope and responsibility. Prior to founding Dellisart, he was vice-president of franchise sales for Bass Hotels & Resorts. Additionally, he held a number of positions with Marriott Corporation, spanning sales & marketing, new product development, and the company's "service development team," which was responsible for conceiving, designing and implementing companywide, innovative guest service initiatives. He also served in a number of sales and marketing positions at the property level, with such hotels as Marriott's five-star, 1,000-room, Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Mo. He received his Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management and Marketing from Niagara University School of Travel.
"As Dellisart grows, it has become more important for me to focus on top-line strategic decisions," Artusio added. "I fully trust Miguel and Christian to oversee the vital, day-to-day operations of the company."
Christian P. Sargent
Christian P. Sargent brings with him nearly 20 years of hotel operations experience. Most recently, he was senior vice president of operations for limited service brands at Dellisart Lodging. Previously, he was director of brand support, services & sales, instrumental in defining the role of the brand, for Staybridge Suites, an InterContinental Hotels Group extended-stay brand, and served in a similar capacity in the start-up of Residence Inn, Candlewood and Summerfield. Prior to that, he held general manager positions at a number of Candlewood Suites, Summerfield Suites and Residence Inn by Marriott hotels. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in International Business from San Jose State University.
"Christian has been with Dellisart since December of 2002, and his proven dedication and expertise make him the obvious choice to lead our limited-service hotel division," Artusio said. "He is truly among the top operational gurus in the limited-service segment of the hospitality industry today."
Miguel Coder
A 35-year hospitality veteran, Miguel Coder most recently served as CEO of Dellisart's Chinese joint venture, Dellisart American Hotels & Resorts, and senior vice president of full-service hotels for Dellisart Lodging. He has held a number of increasingly important positions within the hospitality industry, including senior vice president and COO of Allegro-Occidental Hotels & Resorts and senior vice president, CMH Hotels-U.S., Caribbean, South America and Mexico for Intercontinental Hotels. A multi-linguist, Coder received a bachelor's degree in accounting and a master's degree in culinary arts from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland and was named a Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) by Ecole Hotelier in Vieux Bois, Geneva, Switzerland.
"Miguel's experience makes him invaluable in our international growth ventures," Artusio noted. "As those plans are expanded, his role and experience becomes even more important to our organization."
