Will Bring Glass Restoration to Hospitality

NEW YORK, NY, May 1, 2009 - Hospitality's leading restoration and maintenance company remains focused on sustainability by repairing glass and reducing the cost of replacement

New York-May 1, 2009- Two restoration giants have formed a strategic alliance that will revolutionize the way hotel and restaurant windows are cleaned and maintained. New York-based Stuart Dean Co. and Bend, Ore.-based GlasWeld announce they are working towards environmental sustainability by repairing glass and other surfaces rather than replacing it, thereby reducing the amount of glass in landfills and overall glass replacement costs.

"The alliance between Stuart Dean and GlasWeld will allow hoteliers to extend the life of their glass," said Greg Schall, Stuart Dean Director of Hospitality. "The GlasWeld process removes scratches, drastically improves clarity and at the same time saves replacement costs by extending the lifetime of installed glass at a hotel. Add this process to Stuart Dean's new green technology PURETiTM Clear and your glass lasts longer, maintains clarity, and improves guest satisfaction - all of this while creating sustainability and helping the environment."

Stuart Dean is the largest national provider of restoration services for metal, stone, and wood surfaces, while GlasWeld in the international leader in the glass repair field. In February, Stuart Dean announced a joint-venture partnership with CSG of Rochester Hills, Mich., to launch PURETiTM, a hospitality solution that reduces surface-cleaning maintenance costs up to 50 percent and reduces the water, energy, chemicals and labor expended in cleaning. PURETiTM transforms any interior or exterior surface into a material that proactively eliminates grime and bio-film build-up, improves air quality, and eradicates organic malodors. PURETiTM Clear is the patented glass application that uses water-based UV-PCO technology to continuously eliminate the presence of grime and bio-film buildup.

"Our recent joint venture partnership with CSG has resulted in the ability to provide hospitality environments with the only photo-catalytic surface treatment in the world that keeps glass free of unsightly organic matter without causing any visual distortion or haziness," Schall said. "This process allows for an easy one-step spray application in any environment. Now we are proud to say that at Stuart Dean, we do glass . . . and windows!"

Schall said glass restoration is especially key in all public area accents and windows from ground level up two to four floors where most of guests expect to see superior cleanliness and clarity. Stuart Dean, GlasWeld and CSG all have strong environmental objectives and see the launch of this venture as another way to achieve these goals. When architectural surfaces, such as glass, are discarded most end up in our landfills and are not recycled or recyclable. By repairing and restoring these surfaces, original products are kept in circulation and the need for manufacturing new products is eliminated.

"The process to produce new glass is extremely energy-hungry - add that to shipping and installation energy usage - and restoration is the only thing that makes sense from a sustainability standpoint," said Mike Boyle, president of GlasWeld. "We are looking forward to making a real environmental impact with this new alliance."
