GEM Appoints Javier Egipciaco and Ashley Grogg as GMs
Chelsea and Midtown West Properties, respectively
NEW YORK, NY, May 11, 2009 - The GEM Hotel collection, operated by Gemini Hospitality Management, is pleased to announce the appointments of Javier Egipciaco and Ashley Grogg as general managers of The GEM Hotel Chelsea and The GEM Hotel Midtown West, respectively. Egipciaco and Grogg will be overseeing daily operations at the hotels, including sales and marketing performance, customer and guest services and more. Both have most recently held positions within Gemini Hospitality Management, and collectively have nearly 20 years of hospitality experience, with an extensive focus on the New York market.

Before taking the reins at the 81-room GEM Hotel Chelsea, Egipciaco managed The GEM Hotel Midtown West and The GEM Hotel SoHo, where he exceeded expectations and hotel goals in guest satisfaction, consistently achieved one of the highest scores for hotel standards in cleanliness, implemented aggressive marketing and advertising plans and more. In addition to his new role at the Chelsea hotel, which opened less than a year ago, Egipciaco continues to manage The GEM Hotel SoHo. Prior to joining Gemini Hospitality Management, Egipciaco held several positions, spanning nearly a decade, at The Stanhope, formally a Park Hyatt hotel, and started his career as a guest service provider at The SoHo Grand. Egipciaco is a Certified Hospitality Administrator (CHA) and a graduate of New York City Technical College.
Grogg's appointment at the helm of the 39-room GEM Hotel Midtown West follows her post as the front office manager at The GEM Hotel Chelsea, where she served as a mentor and coach for the front office staff, analyzing the market and competitive intelligence. Grogg began her hospitality career in Cincinnati, Ohio with Commonwealth Hotels, Inc. At Embassy Suites Hotel Cincinnati-RiverCenter she held the post of food and beverage manger and oversaw all aspects of finical measurement for the restaurant, room service and banquet services. At the Residence Inn Cincinnati Airport, a Marriott hotel, Grogg was the front office manager where she was recognized by Commonwealth Hotels, Inc. for the largest increase in ADR and Rev Par in 2006. Grogg is a graduate of Indiana University College of Arts and Sciences.
