OHANA Hotels & Resorts Announces Key Management Moves
HONOLULU, HI, November 1, 2005. Chuck Shishido, vice president of operations for OHANA Hotels & Resorts, has announced a number of key management changes within the organization. Dean Nakasone, Tom Wakita, Pam Yagi, Karen Villarmia and Nora Weatherwax all have embarked on new assignments within the organization.
Dean Nakasone, General Manager, OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber
Dean Nakasone has been named General Manager of the newly acquired OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. In his new position, Nakasone is responsible for all departments of the hotel, which joins 12 other hotels currently operated by Outrigger under the OHANA brand in Hawaii and Guam.
According to Shishido, Nakasone's hard work and successful track record within the company made him an ideal candidate for the job. Nakasone joined Outrigger in 1997 as General Manager of the 625-room Outrigger Prince Kuhio. It did not take long before he was promoted to the position of Director of Revenue Management for the newly launched OHANA brand in 1999. He was subsequently promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing for OHANA Hotels, a position he has held for the past two years.
Tom Wakita, Director of Sales & Marketing
With Nakasone's move to the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber, Tom Wakita has been promoted to OHANA Hotels' Director of Sales & Marketing. Wakita is an industry veteran who brings a wealth of experience to his position. He was most recently OHANA's Director of Sales-Hawaii. Prior to that, he was Corporate Director of Sales for Outrigger Hotels & Resorts.
Pam Yagi, Assistant General Manager, OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber
Pam Yagi has been promoted from her position as Hotel Manager of the OHANA Waikiki West to the number two spot at the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber. As Assistant General Manager, she will be supporting the hotel's general manager and is currently involved in transitioning that property into the OHANA family of hotels.,
Karen Villarmia, Hotel Manager
Yagi's promotion has prompted several other changes within the OHANA management team. Karen Villarmia, who has been Hotel Manager for the OHANA Maile Sky Court for a number of years and most recently Hotel Manager for the OHANA Waikiki Surf, OHANA Waikiki Surf East, and OHANA Waikiki Malia hotels, assumes the position of Hotel Manager of the OHANA Waikiki West.
Nora Weatherwax, Hotel Manager
With Villarmia's move, Nora Weatherwax has taken on the additional responsibility of managing the OHANA Waikiki Malia hotel, along with the OHANA Maile Sky Court. Prior to managing the OHANA Maile Sky Court, Weatherwax managed the OHANA Waikiki Village, which is currently being renovated as part of the new Embassy Suites Hotel-Waikiki Beach Walk.
"We are fortunate at Outrigger and OHANA Hotels to have an experienced base of managers from which to choose when new opportunities and expanded responsibilities become available," said Chuck Shishido.
