Puntacana Resort & Club Appoints General Manager for Exclusive New Tortuga Bay
PUNTACANA, Dominican Republic, November 9, 2005. Carlos De Freitas has been named General Manager of Tortuga Bay, the stunning new boutique villa property within the resort complex of PUNTACANA RESORT & CLUB.
With more than 20 years of experience in international hotel management, De Freitas arrives at Tortuga Bay with exceptional qualifications - his most recent position was Managing Director of the 5-Star Pestana Carlton Madeira in Portugal.
De Freitas began his career holding managerial positions with Starwood Hotels & Resorts in Latin America, where he twice received the Sheraton Guest Satisfaction Award and his property was nominated for the Hotel of the Year award for Starwood's Latin American Division.
He then held positions at Rosewood properties: The Bristol Hotel in Panama and Little Dix Bay in the British Virgin Islands; followed by the Four Seasons Hotel, Ritz Lisbon in Portugal, where he managed the daily operations as well as all aspects of the pre- and post-opening of their new spa and indoor pool complex. De Freitas obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and his Master's Degree in Hotel Management at Florida International University (FIU). FIU's Hospitality and Tourism Program is ranked sixth in the United States.
With two decades of accomplishments behind him, De Freitas has set high goals for himself and his Tortuga Bay team: "To be the best hotel in the country, in the Caribbean, in the Americas, and to be in the top percentage worldwide," he says.
