Tunku Iskander Joins the Travel Partnership Corporation Board of Directors
WASHINGTON, DC, November 30, 2005. Internationally recognized world tourism leader Tunku Iskandar has been appointed to the board of directors for The Travel Partnership Corporation (TTPC), a consortium of travel industry organizations representing all key segments of the industry, which will afford the travel industry its own dedicated domain on the Internet, .travel.
Iskandar, who currently serves as the Group Managing Director of Melewar Group Berhad, is also the Group President of the Mitra Group of travel agencies, Pacific World Travel (M) Sdn Bhd and World Express (M) Sdn Bhd and the Chairman of Sistem Sewa Kereta Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the Avis Rent-A-Car licencee for Malaysia.
Honored with Life Membership of both PATA and ASEANTA for his services to tourism, Iskandar has led a number of national and international travel and tourism associations, including ASEAN Tourism Association as the current Intra-ASEAN Travel committee chairman and its former president. Additionally, he is the immediate past president of Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents and former chairman of the Pacific Asia Travel Association.
Iskandar has also been a Board Member of the Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board and a Trustee of the National Art Gallery, Malaysia, as well as a former President of SKAL International Kuala Lumpur and of The Rotary Club of Ampang, Kuala Lumpur.
Iskandar holds a Master of Science Degree in International Marketing of the University of Strathclyde, UK. He is also Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK), the Institute of Business Administration (UK), the Institute of Administrative Management (UK) and the Institute of Marketing Malaysia. In 1984, he received the "Triple-A" Alumni Achievement Award from the Asian Institute of Management, Philippines.
Iskandar was awarded the Darjah Setia Negeri Sembilan (DNS) in 1987 and was conferred a "Dato' Seri" when he was awarded the Darjah Seri Paduka Tuanku Ja'afar Yang Terpuji (SPTJ) in 1989
