Millennium Alaskan Hotel's "Iditarod" Package Includes Access to Champagne Toast with Mushers and Fu

ANCHORAGE, AK, January 5, 2006. Mushers traverse the magnificent Alaskan landscape in the annual Iditarod Race under the gaze of the Northern Lights, braving more than 1,000 miles in sub-zero weather and gale force winds. This "amazing race" begins on March 4, 2006, in the city of Anchorage and ends in Nome on the coast of the Bering Sea, lasting a total of nine days or longer, frequently in blizzards and white-out conditions.

The best way to experience the Iditarod is with the Millennium Alaskan Hotel which is offering a "Head Start" package which includes: two nights accommodations, two tickets to the five-course Iditarod fund-raising dinner and auction at the hotel on March 3, 2006, transportation to and from the Iditarod starting line in Anchorage on March 4, 2006, access to the Iditarod race activities at the hotel such as the Musher's Champagne Toast, nightly turndown service and complimentary breakfast in-room or in the hotel's Flying Machine Restaurant. The Millennium Alaskan Hotel which recently underwent a $1.6 million renovation was named as the fifth-highest performing U.S. airport hotel by Lodging and Hospitality Magazine. This year's ranking is the 15th year that the hotel has been recognized by the magazine. The magazine lists the top 400 U.S. hotels and resorts based on total sales revenue per room from the previous year.

The Millennium Alaskan is located on the eastern shores of Lake Spenard which is home to the world's largest float-plane base. One can watch these aircrafts take off from the hotel's popular Fancy Moose Lounge.
