Voyages' Queensland Properties Scoop National Awards

. October 14, 2008

NOVEMBER 25, 2006. Voyages' Lizard and Wilson Islands have scooped the 2006 Australian Travel & Tourism Awards, winning the Best Resort Accommodation and Best Eco/Wilderness Adventure Experience categories.

Voyages Silky Oaks Lodge & Healing Waters Spa was also inducted into the 'Hall of Fame' following its consecutive awards in 2004-05 as Australia's Best Destination Spa.

According to Voyages' Executive General Manager Sales & Marketing, Nick Baker, what makes these prestigious accolades so special are that they come from readers of The Weekend Australian's 'Travel & Indulgence' section: people who had actually stayed at the resorts.

"These awards are testimony to the world class experiences the resorts offer," he said. "We were enormously proud to be nominated as finalists in four categories and to have won two against such high quality competition is a great achievement."

Voyages Cradle Mountain Lodge & Waldheim Alpine Spa (Best Destination Spa) and Voyages Longitude 131 (Best Innovative Tourism Experience) were also short-listed as finalists.

Voyages Lizard Island will join stable-mate Silky Oaks Lodge in the 'Hall of Fame' in 2007 as this was its second consecutive award as Australia's best resort.

Voyages is an Australian travel company, providing experience-based holidays in spectacular wilderness locations including the Red Centre, Queensland, The Kimberley and Tasmania.
