Lofthouse Grabs Macdonald Sales Role
UNITED KINGDOM, January 6, 2006. Macdonald Hotels and Resorts has made a major sales appointment following the completion of a lb5.5 million development in Shropshire.
Diane Lofthouse has been taken on as regional sales manager at Macdonald Albrighton Hall which has just converted a grade II listed stable block into 16 new bedrooms. All the 87 ensuite bedrooms within the 300-year-old country house hotel in Ellesmere Road, near Shrewsbury, have been refurbished along with the Vital Health and Leisure Spa. The 49-year-old was previously business development manager at Llyndir Hall Hotel in Chester and director of hotel sales at Knowsley Hall in Merseyside.
"This is a great new challenge for me," she said. "As soon as I heard of this opportunity, I applied straight away because I know from being involved in the industry for such a long time that this will be an interesting job. It is a lovely hotel and the new bedrooms, which have been finished to a high standard, are excellent. The whole refurbishment has been completed and it looks fantastic and my job will be focused on continuing to drive the sales forwards.
"This is the first time that I have worked for Macdonald Hotels & Resorts but they are a go-ahead company who are spending millions of pounds refurbishing many of their hotels throughout the UK. Diane will also be responsible for heading the sales team at the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf & Country Club in Tarporley Road which is currently undergoing a lb13.5 million development.
