DOTHAN, AL, February 28, 2006. LBA Properties, the hotel development, management and ownership company based here, has received the Corporate Volunteer of the Year award from the Wiregrass Habitat for Humanity affiliate, also based in Dothan.

LBA was saluted for "donating in-kind gifts, professional skills and financial support" to the Wiregrass Habitat affiliate, which LBA initially did in May 2005 at the launch of "LBA C.A.R.E.S.," the company's system-wide community service initiative.

As part of LBA C.A.R.E.S., LBA Properties donates a guestroom-ful of hotel furniture to Habitat for Humanity in each community where it opens a new hotel, and awards associates throughout its 33-property system four hours of paid time when they volunteer a minimum of four hours of service to Habitat.

Habitat for Humanity International is just one of several organizations, including Children's Miracle Network, Give Kids the World, America's Promise and more, to benefit from LBA C.A.R.E.S.

Barry Kraselsky, president and C.O.O. of LBA Properties, emphasized the company's family culture and service philosophy as the foundation for LBA C.A.R.E.S., and noted that LBA patterned its C.A.R.E.S. strategy from franchisor Marriott International Inc.'s Spirit To Serve Our Communities umbrella program. LBA has long been a major supporter of one of Marriott's key Spirit To Serve Our Communities programs, Fairfield Inn's "Hospitality at Home," which also benefits Habitat for Humanity International.
