Marriott Named Most Admired Hotel Company by FORTUNE
WASHINGTON, DC, March 1, 2006. FORTUNE magazine has named Marriott International, Inc. the most admired company in the lodging industry -- hotels, resorts and casinos -- for the seventh consecutive year. Marriott was also the most admired company in the greater Washington metropolitan area (including Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia).
Marriott's No. 1 ranking is the result of a poll of 10,000 executives, directors and securities analysts who judge companies based on innovativeness, employee talent, use of corporate assets, social responsibility, quality of management, financial soundness, long-term investment and quality of products/services.
"It's an honor to be recognized by the nation's top business leaders as the most admired lodging company," said J.W. Marriott, Jr., chairman and chief executive officer, Marriott International, Inc. "Our successful business model, our great brands, our experienced leaders, and above all, our dedicated associates are the keys to our success."
