New Chair Committed to Educating Tomorrow's Leaders
WASHINGTON, DC, March 10, 2006. Pedro Mandoki, CHA, has been named chairperson of the Fund Development Committee at the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Foundation (AH&LEF), the not-for-profit affiliate of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). Mandoki and his wife Nora kicked-off this year's AH&LEF Annual Giving Campaign by contributing $5,000. Mandoki has been an AH&LEF donor since 1997.
Last year, 173 donors raised more than $57,000 to support the Foundation's core missions. The drive solicits corporations and individuals for annual contributions to support AH&LEF's core missions of providing scholarships to hospitality management students; funding important industry research in areas such as room tax, energy management, and ADA requirements; as well as promoting hospitality as a career of choice through high school curriculum programs and workforce development initiatives.
Last year, the Foundation disbursed more than $800,000 to prepare promising college students for a career in hospitality; attract and retain quality industry professionals; and fund valuable research for lodging properties through its programs.
"I am committed to developing the careers of the next generation of hospitality leaders, and since I believe in leading by example, I have contributed the initial kick-off gift and I hope that my fellow colleagues will join me" said Mandoki. "A contribution to the AH&LEF Annual Giving Campaign is a sure way to support the future of the industry."
