Hotel Del Coronado Unveils $10 Million Guestroom Renovation

. October 14, 2008

CORONODO, CA, July 8, 2005. When CNL Hotels & Resorts, Inc. and KSL Resorts purchased the Hotel del Coronado in December 2003, they not only assumed the management of a world-renowned hotel, but also the responsibility of protecting and enhancing one of America's historic treasures. Demonstrating their commitment to The Del's future, ownership has completed a $10 million guestroom renovation in the Victorian, Ocean Towers and Cabana buildings.

Internationally acclaimed design firm, Wilson & Associates, has masterfully designed the 381 guestrooms in the original Victorian building including architectural details, furniture, lighting, carpets and fabrics. The designers sought to combine luxury with the comfort appropriate to a beach setting. The artful blend of elegance and tradition is reflective of The Del's classic heritage featuring rich fabric of gold and burgundy hues. The guestrooms, which were completed in June 2005, feature artwork, plush carpeting and renovated bathrooms, which include Egyptian lime stone tiles and larger marble vanities. The 100 suites throughout the resort feature 30" flat screen LDC or 42" Plasma TVs and all rooms have high-speed Internet access.

One of the most outstanding components of the new guestrooms are the "Del Dream" beds, featuring Nile Nights Satin Stripe linens (300 count Egyptian cotton/poly blend), luxurious feather beds and down comforters.

"We are thrilled to bring these quality design enhancements to The Del. The new guestrooms complement the magnificent architecture of this National Historic Landmark," says Todd Shallan, Vice President and General Manager, Hotel del Coronado.

In 2004, the contemporary Towers and Cabana guestrooms were also renovated with new carpeting, linens and accents. The new Caribbean-inspired design in these two buildings reflects tranquil beach-themed colors and accents. "Del Dream" bedding was also installed in these rooms.

"It is a great pleasure for us to be a part of The Del's history," says Shallan. "We look forward to ensuring that this beautiful resort is just as breathtaking today as it was when it opened its doors 117 years ago."
