Columbia Sussex Corp. Completes MontBleu
STATELINE, NV, May 25, 2006. MontBleu Resort Casino & Spa in Lake Tahoe celebrated its official debut on May 24, with the help of Howie Mandel, comedian and host of NBC's hit game show "Deal or No Deal."
MontBleu, formerly known as Caesars Tahoe, brings a new level of style and sophistication to the picturesque surroundings of Lake Tahoe, creating a casino-resort experience that has not been previously available in the popular tourist destination.
With its hip, "metro-cool" atmosphere, the 440-room MontBleu features seven distinct restaurants and four chic nightlife venues, in addition to a newly-remodeled 40,000 square-foot casino and a brand new poker room.
True to its name meaning "blue mountain," MontBleu brings the outdoors indoors, drawing inspiration from the neighboring mountains and lake, throughout all elements of its design. Straying from traditional casino motifs, MontBleu utilizes vibrant colors (mostly blues) and natural materials throughout its design and interior architecture. .
The property's history dates to 1978, when it opened as the Park Tahoe under management of Park Cattle Co. It became Caesars Tahoe in 1980. In June 2005, before its merger with Harrah's Entertainment, Caesars sold Caesars Tahoe to
Columbia Sussex.
"MontBleu is truly going to take the resort experience in Lake Tahoe to a new elevation, offering guests a taste of Las Vegas excitement within the beautiful, natural setting of the Sierra Nevada mountains," said Joe Yung, director of development for Columbia Sussex Corp., MontBleu's parent company. "We wanted to create something more sophisticated than what visitors to this area have been accustomed to, and we envision MontBleu becoming a resort destination in and of itself."
MontBleu will feature several new contemporary culinary experiences, each with its own flair, including: Ciera Steak + Chophouse, Opal Eurasian Cuisine & Ultra Lounge, del Soul Mexican Grill, 20 Four Continuous Cuisine and the unbuffet. Each offers a decadent twist on traditional favorites as well as a vast assortment of unique dishes, pleasing even the most discriminating palette.
When the sun goes down, MontBleu heats up with a selection of exciting and inviting nightlife options. Opal will make a seamless transition from sushi to sultry, as the first true ultra lounge in South Lake Tahoe. Blu Nightclub will create a pulsating atmosphere until the wee hours of the morning, featuring the country's top DJs, live percussionists and go-go dancers.
Just in time for the busy summer months, MontBleu has scheduled an eclectic line-up of entertainment including Sugar Ray, Widespread Panic, 3 Doors Down, Jason Mraz and Staind.
Columbia Sussex Corp. purchased Caesars Tahoe in June 2005, prior to the acquisition of Caesars Entertainment, Inc. by Harrah's Entertainment, Inc.
