ST. AUGUSTINE, FL, June 5, 2006. Mark Schwantner has been named general manager of The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Florida. He is responsible for overseeing all operations of the 300-room resort, which just received Meetings & Conventions magazine's prestigious "Gold Tee Award" as one of the world's finest golf resorts. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting space.

A 30-year hospitality industry veteran, Schwantner comes to The Renaissance Resort from the 735-room Marco Island Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Marco Island, Florida, where he served as hotel manager for eight years. During his tenure, he managed a $90 million renovation project that included the addition of a 10,000-square-foot ballroom and a Balinese-themed spa, as well as a remodeling of the guest rooms, meeting space, and lobby. Prior to that, he served as resident manager of the 600-room waterfront Biscayne Bay Marriott in Miami for two years, and as resident manager of the 560-room Ft. Lauderdale Marina for two years. Other positions include serving as director of restaurants, front office manager, and director of services.

"I'm so pleased to be at The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village," said Schwantner. "It's a remarkable facility with so many offerings for groups and leisure travelers."
