The Claremont to Get $4 mil in Capital Improvements
BERKELEY, CA, june 6, 2006. Using 3,752 gallons of crisp, white paint, the historic Claremont Resort & Spa has restored the exterior to the brilliant white glimmer of days past. The updated facade, which can't be missed from Highways 13, 24, 580 and 80, is just the beginning of a $4 million financial commitment the classic hotel has received through new owners CNL Hospitality Properties, Inc. and management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts. From new bedding packages in all 279 rooms and a private dining room in Paragon Bar & Cafe to a new pool area at The Club at The Claremont and fully renovated ballrooms, the improvements are scheduled to be completed throughout the year and come on the heels of the recent union settlement.
In addition to the new bright white of the building, the resort's 22 acres is revitalized with landscaping and grounds improvements. The pools at The Club at The Claremont have been completely renovated with a new pool deck, furniture and landscaping. The Kid's Club members are already enjoying a new play area, including modern swing sets and sand boxes.
Looking to the interior of the resort, guests relax and dream like the Presidents, Hollywood stars and other travelers that have stayed in the guest room before while lying on new bedding packages complete with a Serta plush-top mattress and new pillows, bedspreads, shams and dust ruffles to complement the elegant, yet casual California style of the rooms. The Claremont Spa is adding two new spa treatment rooms to the top-rated facility, bringing the total to 34. Whether planning a meeting for 50 attendees in the Empire Ballroom or a wedding for 300 guests in the Claremont Ballroom, generations of guests will see the ballrooms restored to their original beauty including new carpeting, wall coverings, lighting and more. Lastly, the trendy Paragon Bar & Cafe will add a private dining room to the restaurant in order to seat groups of 45 or less for rehearsal dinners, small functions, etc.
Born of a "golden" era, The Claremont is perched majestically on a pristine mountainside in the Berkeley Hills, standing watch over the glistening Golden Gates of San Francisco Bay. Whether guests choose to partake in a fine meal and expertly poured cocktail at AAA Four-Diamond Jordan's or casual Paragon Bar & Caf'e, indulge in a "journey" from around the world in the 20,000 square-foot Claremont Spa -- named one of the nation's top spas by Elle and Vogue magazines -- or spend the afternoon poolside at The Claremont Club bathed in rays that once tanned Barrymore and Garbo, this classic landmark is defined through its culture and distinctive atmosphere. The Claremont is a tradition, an entitlement of generations and America's quintessential grand resort.
