Millennium Announces New Appointments
Include Key Additions to New York City Hotels
NEW YORK, NY, June 13, 2006. Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America, (MHR) has announced eight recent appointments to management, catering, sales and marketing positions at corporate and property levels. Mark Irgang and Jason Pallen have joined the Millennium Broadway Hotel, New York City, as hotel manager and director of food and beverage respectively. At the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel, New York City, Alex-Raymund Gomez has been named director of sales and marketing while Carolyn Altieri has come on board as the property's new director of catering. Jan McConarty and Gina Janniello have joined her team as catering sales managers.
At the corporate level, Yin Yin Wong has joined Millennium & Copthorne Hotels International as its new director of marketing for the Asia-Pacific region and Jocelyn Austin has been named Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America's, manager for marketing.

Prior to joining the Millennium Broadway Hotel as hotel manager, Mark Irgang was resident manager at the Marriott East Side Hotel in New York. He has worked extensively with the Marriot group for over 20 years including holding the resident manager position at the Marriot Marquis Hotel, New York. Irgang has also served as general manager for the Newark Courtyard Marriott Hotel in New Jersey and regional director for Marriott Courtyard Hotels, Northeast Region. At the Millennium Broadway, he will be responsible for managing the hotel's 750 rooms and assisting the general manager in day to day operations including marketing and sales endeavors.
Irgang holds a bachelor of science degree from the renowned Cornell University, School of Hotel and Restaurant Management. He is also a visiting lecturer at Cornell University for its PDP/Hospitality Management Program.
Jason Pallen joins the Millennium Broadway Hotel from the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel, where he had served in various food and beverage positions over seven years. At the Millennium Broadway Hotel, Pallen's main responsibilities include managing and planning day to day operations for the hotel's Restaurant Charlotte and Bar, room service, banquets and stewarding. He will also oversee operations for the Premier's exclusive Premier Lounge. Pallen holds a bachelor of science degree from Niagara University's Hotel & Restaurant School and holds an associates degree in applied science of culinary arts from the prestigious Johnson & Wales University.
The Millennium UN Plaza welcomes Alex-RaymundGomez as its new director of sales and marketing. Gomez had served as director of sales and marketing at The Warwick before joining the Millennium UN Plaza. During his time at The Warwick, he was responsible for managing the development of all sales and marketing efforts for the four-star, 426-room hotel. Gomez has also held similar positions at the The Drake Swissotel and Hotel Inter-Continental New York and was vice president, corporate relations for the New York Convention and Visitors Bureau (NYC & Company). He is a graduate of McMaster University in Ontario, Canada.
The Millennium UN Plaza has appointed Carolyn Altieri as its new director of catering. Prior to joining the Millennium UN Plaza, Altieri held a similar position at the five-diamond and five-star rated Four Seasons Hotel, New York. She is also no stranger to the "Millennium family" having served as director of catering and special events at the Millennium Broadway Hotel. At the Millennium UN Plaza Hotel, Altieri will oversee sales and planning for the hotel's stunning meeting spaces, many of which offer views of the city skyline and cater to an international clientele including diplomats from the neighboring United Nations. She is a graduate of Fairfield University, Connecticut.
Altieri's team will be augmented by two experienced catering personnel: Jan McConarty and Gina Janniello who both hold the position of catering sales manager. They will assist with planning and implementing the logistics for events held at the hotel as well as identifying and finalizing arrangements such as menu selections and security.
McConarty joins the Millennium UN Plaza from the Roosevelt Hotel where she focused on corporate catering sales and event coordination for clients in the financial, public relations and fundraising sectors. She has also worked at several noted New York City hotels including the Crowne Plaza Manhattan Hotel, the St. Moritz on Central Park Hotel and the Drake Swissotel. McConarty is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds a masters degree from Rutgers University.
Janniello previously worked at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, New York as its catering coordinator. At the Mandarin Oriental, she was responsible for securing and negotiating bookings as well as coordinating and planning for events. Janniello has also held a number of catering and sales positions at hotels such as the Benjamin Hotel, New York Palace Hotel, Omni Berkshire Hotel and the New York Helmsley Hotel.
At the corporate level, Yin Yin Wong has joined Millennium & Copthorne Hotels International as its director of marketing, Asia-Pacific. Based in Singapore, Wong will support all Millennium & Copthorne hotels, both existing and new, within the Asia Pacific region in their marketing services, e-marketing, corporate communications, loyalty & membership programmes, credit card and frequent flyer partnership efforts. She will also oversee the development of the brand throughout the region.
Prior to joining Millennium & Copthorne, Wong was the regional public relations manager, Asia Pacific for Le Meridien.
Millennium Hotels and Resorts, North America, has hired Jocelyn Austin as the group's new manager for marketing programs. Austin will be responsible for coordinating MHR's marketing, promotional and public relations programs. Prior to joining MHR, Austin served as group manager at Weber Shandwick Worldwide where she managed the firm's overall corporate communications endeavors and media relations strategies for clients. Austin is a graduate of Georgetown University and holds a bachelor's degree of science in languages (English and French.
