Macdonald Brings in Communications Director
LONDON, UK, June 9, 2006. Macdonald Hotels has appointed Katie Wood as Communications Director to spearhead a new era in public relations for the Group.
With overall responsibility for the external communications strategy, Katie will head-up the Group's PR Network in what is an exciting time for the Company as it actively targets the premium four star and five star UK markets.
With the re-launch of the five star Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel, re-opening of the Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel & Resort in Shropshire with its championship golf course, and the completion of the new restaurant at the Thames-side Macdonald Compleat Angler, Katie's focus will be on raising the company's profile both in the national and international press.
Formerly a travel editor for three national newspapers, Katie joins the Group with over 20 years experience in the travel and tourism industry. Her experience includes TV and radio presenting, marketing consultancy for British Airways and VisitScotland and guidebook writing.
She also holds a Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society, awarded for her work in the early 1990's on the impact of international tourism on the environment.
Commenting on her appointment, Katie Wood, Communications Director, said:
