Guile Joins MacDonald Board
LONDON, UK, June 16, 2006. From the 1st June, David Guile, Deputy Chief Executive of Macdonald Hotels, the UK's largest privately owned hotel Group, will join the Macdonald's main Board.
With responsibility for resourcing, employee development and service quality, David's appointment as a Director follows on from his recent promotion to Deputy Chief Executive for the Group. With an HND in Business Studies and Tourism and an MBA, completed in 2001, David has over two decades experience in the hospitality industry.
Starting his career with Crest Hotels as a trainee manager in 1985, David has worked his way up the career ladder in a traditional manner and has served 20 years continual service, although the companies have changed through takeovers and buyouts.
From General Manager of the Forte Posthouse flagship hotel in Hemel Hempstead, David was promoted to Regional Director for Heritage Hotels before Macdonald Hotels recognised his ability and appointed him to Regional Managing Director for South East in 2001, a position he held until his recent promotion to Deputy Chief Executive in March of this year.
Welcoming David to the Board, Executive Chairman Donald Macdonald said. "David's appointment to the Board is well deserved and comes at an exciting time for the Group as we make good progress in targeting the premium four star and five star UK markets. The key to this repositioning is the quality of service offered by our staff and, by working closely to train and develop key members of staff, David's position will ensure that there is an easy, open and continuous flow of two-way communications between staff and the Board."
David Guile added, "To be appointed on to the Group's Board is a great privilege and a challenge I look forward to. In my role as Deputy Chief Executive, my main focus is people and my appointment to the Board will provide an essential link between employees and the Group's Directors. With our recent repositioning in the premium four and five star markets, the quality of service needs to be exceptional and through the development of our people, I am confident we will achieve our goals."
