Meritus Calendar Hhas Gone a Long Way Since 1977

More than Just Another Generic Commercial Piece

SINGAPORE, December 13, 2006. To herald the coming of the New Year, Meritus Hotels & Resorts is proud to commemorate its 30-year tradition of presenting the Meritus Calendar by unveiling a brand new look for users to mark their days in 2007.

More than just another generic commercial piece, the Meritus Calendar has gone a long way since its inception in 1977 and is a hot favourite for a group of 'die-hard' supporters.

As Margie T Logarta, editor of Business Traveller Asia-Pacific, gushed, "It's been my indispensable desk companion all these years that I've covered the travel industry. My year doesn't begin till I receive one from the Meritus corporate office!"

Distinctly presented with the Meritus' new branding taking its creative helm for the first-time, the cleanly designed 2007 Calendar still carries beautifully-taken pictures of the quintessential Meritus Ambassadors poised either against the stylish backdrops of its hotels or rustic surroundings of its resorts, akin to its previous incarnations.

The Meritus Ambassadors, who are female Guest Relations Officers clad in Meritus cheongsam or sarong, had appeared ubiquitously in the Meritus Calendar since the first edition. A symbolic icon of the group, they personify the signature Asian grace, warmth and care service delivery that the group proudly upholds in its years of being in the hospitality scene.

Opening with an excerpt on 'The Meritus Story', this 2007 calendar introduces for the first time the inspiration and history of how the group came about, marking its 30th year in print.

Visually, an inspirational element has also been added to the Calendar. Two key components of the group's new branding - the Meritus golden ribbon and seal of quality take on a deliberate die-cut version forming the bottom edge of each page as if to urge its users to have fun living and flipping through the days of the coming year.

A gallery of Meritus' history of calendar covers is available for viewing at www.meritus-hotels.com/calendars Complimentary copies of 2007 Calendar will be given away to the first 300 visitors who sign up online.

Established as part of the group's brand evolution, the Meritus golden ribbon symbolises silk - the highly sought after item that first linked the east with the west, representative of the group's constant drive to blend western sophistication with the renowned hospitality of the East.

The 'Seal of Quality' is a symbol evolved from the group's original logo and is a guarantee of the group's commitment to consistently deliver its signature Asian hospitality to their guests.
