Destination Promotes and Expands Corporate HR Team
ENGLEWOOD, CO, Jun 26, 2006. Charles Peck, president and chief operating officer for Destination Hotels & Resorts, today announced a number of promotions and new hires in the company's corporate human resources department. Most notably is the appointment of Robert Mellwig to the top post in the department as vice president of human resources. The company also promoted Tricia Price to assistant vice president of human resources and hired Bobbie Caldwell as the new director of talent management.
Mellwig was appointed vice president of human resources after joining the company in 2004 as the director of recruitment and organizational development. During his tenure with Destination, Mellwig enhanced the company's recruitment effort by developing a new web-based job bank, creating a leadership assessment process and introducing an innovative performance goal setting system. Mellwig also has played an important role in the integration of Oracle, the company's new human resources information system as part of a larger employee retention project for parent company Lowe Enterprises.
Prior to joining Destination, Mellwig worked for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide in the company's corporate office as a manager of strategic staffing and college relations. Mellwig also has worked in human resources at the property level with Starwood, Hilton and Hyatt. He also has taught human resources courses at New York University through the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Hospitality, Tourism and Travel Administration. Mellwig is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University. He also has earned his Senior Professional in Human Resources certification from the Society of Human Resources management.
One of Mellwig's first activities as vice president of human resources for Destination was to promote Director of Human Resources Administration Tricia Price to assistant vice president of human resources. Price has been with the company for two years and during her time with Destination she has made great strides in developing the human resources benefits and compensation strategy. She also has played a critical role in the due diligence and transition process for the recent acquisitions to the Destination portfolio. Price also has worked in conjunction with Mellwig to automate a substantial part of the human resources function through the integration of Destination's Oracle platform under a broader company-wide information system.
Before joining Destination, Price had more than 10 years of experience in benefits and payroll administration. Her hospitality experience includes Sage Hospitality Resources and US Motels Management. Price is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder.
The Destination corporate human resources team also expanded recently with the hiring of Bobbie Caldwell as director of talent management. Caldwell will lead the recruitment, selection, assessment and talent development programs for Destination. She also will provide oversight for the associate goal setting and review process, as well as work with management on programs to develop internal bench strength.
Caldwell joins Destination most recently from Harrah's Entertainment as a recruiting manager in Las Vegas. Bobbie has lead the recruiting efforts for Wyndham International and brings additional experience from The MHA Group, a healthcare consulting firm. Caldwell is a graduate of Baylor University and has earned the Professional in Human Resources certification from the Society of Human Resources Management.
